Features of Hand-Woven Persian Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product comes from sheep that have adapted to the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, giving the wool excellent durability and a soft, pleasant feel with high oil content to regulate body temperature. These wools are dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, resulting in a plush and comfortable texture. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last up to 100 years. Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and breathable in summer, making them feel cool. And, of course, there's their artistry. The Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. If stains are a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a wet cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool, which may produce a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping.
The pompoms located at the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh rug can be removed before shipping upon request. Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish for the pompoms to be removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
