The turquoise used in this accessory is called Shajar, and it has a natural matrix pattern where turquoise is mixed with other stones. Shajar means "tree with branches" in Persian, and the branch-like texture of the stone enhances the blue color of the turquoise.

This is an original, one-of-a-kind design by the famous Iranian engraver Mr. Javaheri. Leather Javaheri was an engraver who served as one of the royal family's jewelers during the Pahlavi dynasty. While also lecturing at the Tehran University of Art, he created our store's jewelry from 1990 to 2007. The delicate designs, tailored to the individuality of each turquoise stone, further enhance the allure of the turquoise. The back of each turquoise stone is individually engraved in gold to match its unique shape.

Characteristics of Natural Persian Firoozeh (Turquoise) Jewelry

This stone, originally mined in ancient Persia (Iran), was brought to Europe via Turkey, and the word "Turkish" became the origin of its name. Persian turquoise is of the highest quality, characterized by its vibrant, deep sky-blue color, often described as "the color of the spring sky," and its high hardness. In fact, it was the first stone ever used by humanity as a protective amulet.

In Persia, it was cherished as the stone of the royal family for many years, and this Persian blue was also highly valued during the Victorian era.
Besides Iran, the highest quality producing region, turquoise of varying quality is also found in Australia, America, China, Egypt, and other places. Many turquoise stones from Arizona, America, are brought to Japan, but this Persian "Firoozeh" (turquoise) is rarely introduced due to its dwindling production in recent years, making it very precious.
