The turquoise used in this accessory is called Shajar, which has a natural matrix pattern with a mix of turquoise and other stones. Shajar means "tree with branches" in Persian, and the branch-like texture of the stone enhances the blue of the turquoise.

This is an original, one-of-a-kind design from our store, crafted by Mr. Javaheri, a renowned Iranian engraver. Reza Javaheri was an engraver who worked as one of the royal family's jewelers during the reign of King Pahlavi. While lecturing at the University of Tehran's School of Fine Arts, he created our store's jewelry from 1990 to 2007. His delicate designs, tailored to the unique characteristics of each turquoise stone, further enhance the charm of the turquoise. The back of each turquoise stone is individually engraved with gold to match the stone's shape.

Features of Persian Natural Firuze (Turquoise) Jewelry

This stone, originally mined in ancient Persia (Iran), was brought to Europe via Turkey, which is how the word "Turkish" became the origin of its name. Persian turquoise is of the highest quality with high hardness, boasting a vivid, deep sky blue color, often described as "the color of spring sky." In fact, it was the first stone ever used by humanity as a protective amulet.

In Persia, it was cherished as the stone of the royal family for many years, and this Persian blue was also highly valued during the Victorian era.
While Iran is the best source for turquoise, different qualities are also produced in Australia, America, China, Egypt, and other regions. Although American Arizona turquoise is often imported into Japan, Persian "Firuze (turquoise)" is rarely introduced due to its drastically decreased output in recent years, making it a precious gem.
