The turquoise used in this accessory is called Shajar, which means "tree with branches" in Persian, and has a natural matrix pattern where turquoise and other stones are mixed. The branching pattern of the stone enhances the blue of the turquoise.

This is a one-of-a-kind original design from our store, crafted by Mr. Javaheri, a famous Iranian engraver. Reza Javaheri was an engraver who worked as one of the royal family's jewelers during the Pahlavi dynasty. While lecturing at the University of Fine Arts in Tehran, he also created jewelry for our store from 1990 to 2007. The delicate designs, tailored to the unique characteristics of each turquoise stone, further enhance the charm of the turquoise. The back of each turquoise stone is hand-engraved with gold to perfectly match the stone's shape.

Features of Persian Natural Firoozeh (Turquoise) Jewelry

This stone, originally mined in Persia (Iran), reached Europe via Turkey, which is where its name, meaning "Turkish," originated. Persian turquoise is known for its vivid, deep sky-blue color, often called "the color of a spring sky," and is a high-quality, hard stone. In fact, it was one of the first stones used by humanity as a protective amulet.

In Persia, it was cherished as the stone of the royal family for many years, and this "Persian Blue" was highly prized during the Victorian era. Besides Iran, which is the finest producing region, turquoise of varying quality is also found in Australia, America, China, Egypt, and other places. Many turquoise stones brought to Japan come from Arizona in the United States, but this Persian "Firoozeh (turquoise)" is rarely introduced due to its drastically decreasing output in recent years, making it a valuable gem.
