Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who wander the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool as part of their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft and pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, allows for effective temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs, woven by hand, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads after dyeing the wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Born from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool feeling.
And, above all, their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They are not only suitable for placing on the floor but can also be displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can also be removed before shipping
The pom-poms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like the pom-poms to be removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
