Characteristics of the Origin (Senneh)
Senneh, located in northwestern Iran, is the name of a city inhabited by Kurdish people. Senneh kilims are highly regarded among Kurdish kilims and are said to excel in weaving techniques and artistic craftsmanship. This technique is believed to be influenced by carpet weaving. Senneh kilims are characterized by small floral patterns and a central medallion. Senneh is also currently known as Sanandaj, and a rich variety of flatweave kilims are produced there. The patterns are beautifully unique, like a flower garden reflected in a pond, and possess a distinctive charm.
What is a Kilim?
Persian hand-woven kilims are globally popular traditional hand-woven textiles that become more appealing with age. Depending on the era they were woven, they are called vintage kilims, old kilims, or antique kilims, and are loved by people of all ages. Most kilims are made of wool, but some are also produced using cotton or silk. Natural materials are used. Since natural dyes are also used for coloring, you can use them with peace of mind. These hand-woven kilims are durably woven and are based on the tribal and ethnic design styles known as tribal rugs. They feature geometric patterns inspired by nature and animals, and each kilim has a unique design.
Various ethnic groups live across the vast land of Iran. Each region of origin has distinct design and color characteristics, allowing you to enjoy a diverse range of design patterns.
Other Uses for Kilims
Kilims are widely used not only as simple rugs and floor coverings, but also as wall hangings, and as accents for other interior items such as sofas, tables, and beds. Their distinctive designs and colors are characteristic, and they are often utilized as room accents. Kilims are not just decorative items; they are important elements that enrich the overall atmosphere of a room and highlight individuality. They add a unique charm and warmth to a living space. By using kilims, you can create a life with art and comfort, and enjoy living surrounded by things you love.
Kilims and Interior Design
Kilims can be flexibly incorporated into various interior styles. In modern interiors, introducing the unique patterns and colors of a kilim into a simple space adds an accent. For natural or Scandinavian interiors, combining kilims with wooden furniture, plants, or other natural materials can enhance their warmth and natural feel. They also pair well with a bohemian atmosphere; by laying them on the floor or hanging them on walls, they elevate the overall room ambiance. Kilims have ethnic designs and a tribal feel, making them a good match for interiors that incorporate cultural elements from Iran, Turkey, or Morocco. Arranging them as tapestries or cushions can add warmth and depth to the entire room.
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom. If you notice stains, dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape, weaving irregularities, or dye variations. Please enjoy these as part of the charm of a hand-woven piece.
