Characteristics of the Origin (Sirjan)

Sirjan is a city located in the southern part of Iran, within Kerman Province. Kilims woven in Sirjan are also known as "Suzani" or "Silky Pichi," and Sirjan is registered as a kilim weaving region by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).
Sirjan kilims are characterized by their extremely dense and firm weave. Nomadic women weave these kilims based on their imagination without a design pattern, resulting in astonishing delicacy and intricacy. They are soumak woven, meaning the surface is not very fluffy, and often feature animal and geometric patterns.
Furthermore, Sirjan kilims often have deep color tones.
