Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool, and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture containing a lot of oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also hung on walls as art.
How about finding your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique smell from the dye used to color the wool may occur.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
