Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs

Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using plant-dyed wool to create long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of lanolin, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, and adept at regulating body temperature.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and each Gabbeh rug is carefully hand-woven by Iranian nomads, characterized by its fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, giving a feeling of coolness.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.

Please Note

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Pom-poms can be removed upon request

The pom-poms located on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before shipping if you request it.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
