Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant feel with a high oil content for effective thermoregulation. Gabbeh rugs, made by Iranian nomads who meticulously hand-weave each strand of this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last 100 years, boasting excellent durability. Born from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and not feeling hot in summer. And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be displayed on walls. Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the nap. If it gets dirty: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used to color the wool. The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
