Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile carpets, deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, allows for effective temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh, made from wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are renowned for their exceptional durability, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh also have the unique characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the nap.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a cloth or towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to their hand-woven nature, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and variations in dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. As such, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can also be removed before shipping.

If requested, we can ship Gabbeh without the pom-poms located at the corners and in between.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
