Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile rugs made from plant-dyed wool, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, helps in regulating body temperature.
This wool is dyed with natural dyes, and each Gabbeh is carefully hand-woven by Iranian nomads, characterized by its fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbehs are renowned for their outstanding durability, said to last up to 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool feel.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel or similar cloth. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to the handmade nature, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool, which may result in a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can be removed before shipping

The pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
