Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-piled rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective thermoregulation.
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, using wool dyed with natural dyes, resulting in a fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Born from the climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, Gabbeh are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Pompoms can be removed before shipping.

The pompoms on the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pompoms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
