Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are rugs deeply rooted in nomadic life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who roam the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft and pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, helps in regulating body temperature.
Gabbeh, hand-woven by Iranian nomads by carefully dyeing this wool with natural dyes, strand by strand, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, showcasing their superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing overheating.
And above all, their artistic quality is remarkable. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, original piece with no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
If stains are a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape or pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dyes may occur.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
