Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile carpets hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and contains a high amount of lanolin to regulate body temperature, making it soft and pleasant to the touch.
Gabbeh rugs, woven by Iranian nomads by hand, strand by strand, using naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Born from the drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, creating a cool sensation.
And, above all, their artistic quality. The Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Vacuum or sweep along the pile to remove dirt and dust.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
As these are hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
