Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads, who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran using naturally dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for surviving in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture due to its high oil content, which helps with temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads, strand by strand, using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with significant diurnal temperature fluctuations, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, making them feel cool.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original and unique item.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be displayed on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
As these are hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dye used for the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
