Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are hand-woven using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing the sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft texture rich in oils to effectively regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs woven by Iranian nomads using this wool, dyed with natural dyes, and carefully hand-woven strand by strand, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting superior durability. Originating from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat. And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created imaginatively by nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique original. They can be used not only on the floor but also displayed on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the nap. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterwards, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and uneven dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool. The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

If requested, we can remove the pom-poms located at the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh before delivery. Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
