Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool with long piles, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil for good temperature regulation, resulting in soft, pleasant-to-the-touch fibers. Gabbeh rugs woven by Iranian nomads, meticulously hand-dyeing and weaving each strand of wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, indicating its superior durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing heat buildup. And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art. How about finding your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Vacuum or sweep along the pile to remove dirt and dust. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, as well as weaving and dyeing irregularities. Please note that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present. The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can also be removed before shipping.
The pom-poms on the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment. Removing the pom-poms does not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you would like the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
