Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are long-piled rugs made from plant-dyed wool, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for living in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of oil, resulting in soft and pleasant-to-the-touch fibers that are effective in regulating body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, one strand at a time, are characterized by their plush and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable they are said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Gabbeh rugs can be enjoyed for a long time, so why not find your own special Gabbeh?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
