Features of Persian Hand-Knotted Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-knotted by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. They are long-piled rugs deeply rooted in daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, developed for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, with this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-knotted strand by strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, so they don't feel hot.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, sweeping along the pile direction.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-knotted, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-knotted product.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique scent from the dyes used on the wool.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
