Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai nomads who inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are hand-woven using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, along with a soft and pleasant texture rich in oils to regulate body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Gabbeh rugs are meant to be used for a long time. Why not find your own special Gabbeh?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool, which may result in a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool.
While the odor will gradually dissipate with use, we kindly ask for your understanding in advance.

Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
