Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, grass-dyed wool rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who graze their flocks in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Valiant" wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture is due to its high oil content, which helps regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, made by hand-weaving this wool dyed with natural dyes by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Born from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, making them feel cool. And then there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imagined and created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece. They can be used not only on the floor but also displayed on walls as art. How about finding your own special Gabbeh rug, one that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, uneven weaving, or uneven dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used on the wool may occur. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping.
If requested, we can ship Gabbeh rugs with the pompoms on the corners or middle removed. Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
