Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in soft and pleasant-feeling wool.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-dyed with natural dyes and meticulously woven one by one by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may occur.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping.
The pompoms located at the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
