Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran. These rugs are hand-woven using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture due to its high oil content, which helps regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, woven by Iranian nomads with each strand carefully dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Gabbeh, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool feeling. And of course, there's their artistic quality. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Vacuum or sweep along the pile to remove dirt and dust. If stains are a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.

The pom-poms on the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping. Removing the pom-poms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
