Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture contains a high amount of oil to skillfully regulate body temperature.
These Gabbeh, made by nomadic Iranians who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing you from feeling hot.
And above all, there is their artistry. The Gabbeh created from the imagination of the nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being an original, one-of-a-kind piece.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please be aware that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
