Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads inhabiting the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and soft, pleasant-to-the-touch fibers rich in oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven thread by thread by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant texture.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used for the wool may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pompoms can also be removed for shipping

The pompoms on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
