Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, natural dye, wool rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, deeply rooted in their daily life. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture due to the high oil content that helps with body temperature regulation. These wools are dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads, resulting in Gabbeh rugs that are wonderfully soft and plush. A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing overheating. And, above all, there is their artistic quality. The Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They are so artistic that they can be displayed on a wall as art, in addition to being placed on the floor. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dye used on the wool. The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
