Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed sheep wool with a long pile. The sheep wool used in this product, known as Persian Variant, possesses excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of lanolin for effective thermoregulation, resulting in soft and pleasant-feeling wool.
Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, one thread at a time, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool feeling.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imagined and created by nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but are also beautiful enough to be hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a wet cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep wool. As such, a unique smell from the wool dye may occur.
This smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request

If you request, the pom-poms attached to the corners or sides of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish for the pom-poms to be removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
