Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile, everyday rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft and pleasant texture is due to the high fat content that helps regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, with this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven one by one by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel. A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability. Born from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imaginations, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor, of course, but are also artistic enough to be hung on walls. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dyes used to color the wool may be present. This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request for shipping.

The pom-poms on the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery upon request. Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
