Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content to effectively regulate body temperature.
The Gabbeh, woven meticulously by hand, strand by strand, by Iranian nomads from this natural-dyed wool, is characterized by its fluffy and pleasant feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is so durable that it is said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing it from feeling hot.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
