Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil for effective temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh, hand-woven piece by piece by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool sensation.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dye variations. Please understand these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool, which may produce a unique scent from the wool dye.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
