Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Gabbeh is a long-pile, hand-woven rug made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and is rich in oil content to regulate body temperature, resulting in soft and pleasant-feeling fibers. Gabbehs are characterized by their soft and pleasant feel, woven meticulously by hand, one by one, by Iranian nomads, using wool dyed with natural dyes. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting excellent durability. Gabbehs, born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and not feeling hot in summer. And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbehs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time? Daily Care Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. For気になる stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shade. Notes Due to hand-weaving, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving. Also, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive smell from the dyes used on the wool. This smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance. Pom-poms can also be removed for shipping

The pom-poms on the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the pom-poms removed for shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
