Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, and are deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand, strand by strand, by Iranian nomads after dyeing the wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, created in a climate with extreme daily temperature differences, are also known for being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing heat buildup.
And, of course, their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imaginations, often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, original piece with no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Gabbeh rugs are made to be enjoyed for a long time. Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to their hand-woven nature, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Consequently, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed for shipping

The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh rug can be removed before delivery upon request.
Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh rug.
If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
