Features of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, handwoven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft and pleasant texture rich in natural oils for effective temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, crafted by Iranian nomads meticulously hand-weaving each strand of naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable texture.
Gabbeh rugs, woven tightly, are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created imaginatively by nomads often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be used on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar cloth. Afterward, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being handwoven, there may be irregularities in shape or pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of handwoven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dye used for the wool.
While the scent will gradually dissipate with use, we ask for your understanding in advance.
