Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains of Iran, and are hand-woven using naturally dyed wool. The Persian Variat wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
These wools are dyed with natural dyes, and Gabbeh rugs are then carefully hand-woven, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads, resulting in a distinctively plush and pleasant feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, showcasing its exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, offering a sensation of coolness.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be placed on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually fade with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can also be removed before shipping

The pom-poms on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like the pom-poms to be removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
