Gabbeh are long-pile rugs, rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai nomads who weave them by hand in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth or towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool.
