Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs, rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai nomads who weave them by hand in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high fat content to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven thread by thread by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their soft and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, making them feel cool.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique and original piece.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed on a wall as art.
Gabbeh rugs are made to be used for a long time. Why not find a special one just for you?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth or towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the handmade nature of the weaving, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and color variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can also be removed before shipping.

The pompoms attached to the corners or sides of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pompoms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us by email or phone below.
