Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in soft and pleasant-feeling wool. The Gabbeh, made by nomads in Iran who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, is characterized by its soft and pleasant texture. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, indicating its superior durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing heat. And, above all, is its artistry. The Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, with no two being alike, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind item. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Then, carefully wipe with a wet cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are all part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
