Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile rugs, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in soft and pleasant-feeling wool. The Gabbeh, made by nomads in Iran who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, is characterized by its soft and pleasant texture. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, indicating its superior durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing heat. Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Then, carefully wipe with a wet cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are all part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
