Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool with long piles, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a large amount of fat for effective body temperature regulation, resulting in soft and pleasant-to-touch wool.
Gabbeh rugs, made by dyeing this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weaving each strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last 100 years.
Gabbeh, created from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, is warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing it from feeling hot.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the nap.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh is woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dye used to color the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
