Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs, deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai tribe who nomadize the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are hand-woven using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes and then meticulously hand-woven, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads. This results in Gabbeh rugs known for their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, demonstrating their exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme day-night temperature differences, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile direction.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed upon shipment

If requested, the pom-poms located at the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish for the pom-poms to be removed, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
