Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are long-pile rugs made from plant-dyed wool, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content to regulate body temperature.
These wools are dyed with natural dyes, and each Gabbeh rug is meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, resulting in a fluffy and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Gabbeh rugs are meant to be used for a long time. Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request

Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
