Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool as an integral part of their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, which contains a good amount of oil for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, indicating its exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created by the nomads from their imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being an original, unique item.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but are also artistic enough to be hung on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung cloth or similar. Afterward, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape or pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinct odor from the dyes used on the wool.
While the odor will gradually dissipate with use, we ask for your understanding in advance.
