Features of Hand-Woven Persian Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads, thread by thread, from wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing them from feeling hot.
And, above all, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They are not only suitable for laying on the floor but can also be displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile direction.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterwards, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, dyeing inconsistencies, etc. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may occur.
This scent will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
