Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is soft and pleasant to the touch, containing a lot of oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh woven by Iranian nomads, meticulously hand-knotting each strand of this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are also characterized by being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.

Daily Care

Remove dust and dirt with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Points to Note

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used for the wool may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pompoms can be removed before shipping.

The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
