Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are long-piled, hand-woven carpets made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai nomads living in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and is rich in natural oils, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, skillfully regulating body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by Iranian nomads who carefully hand-weave each strand of this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their soft and pleasant texture.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a sensation of coolness.
And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, imagined and created by nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, and each piece is a unique, original creation.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and color variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used for the wool.
Please note that the odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.

Pompoms can be removed for shipping

The pompoms at the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
