Features of Persian Hand-Knotted Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-knotted rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Valiant" wool used in this product boasts excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, helps in temperature regulation. Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand, knot by knot, by Iranian nomads using naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, demonstrating its exceptional durability. Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a comfortable feel that doesn't make you feel hot. And, above all, their artistic quality. Gabbehs, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature animal and plant designs, and each piece is a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be used on the floor, of course, but also displayed as art on walls. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the nature of hand-weaving, there may be slight irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and color variations. Please appreciate these as part of the charm of a hand-knotted item. Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the wool dyes may be present. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed for shipping

The pom-poms on the corners and sides of the Gabbeh can be removed before shipping upon request. Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the pom-poms removed for shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
