Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant feel with a high fat content that helps regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, creating a comfortable coolness.
And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed upon request

The pompoms on the corners or in the middle of Gabbeh rugs can be removed and shipped without them, if requested.
Removing the pompoms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh rug.
If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
