Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads living in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from long-pile, vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of natural oil for effective body temperature regulation, resulting in soft and pleasant-to-the-touch fibers.
This wool is dyed with natural dyes, and then the Iranian nomads meticulously hand-weave each strand, giving Gabbeh its distinctive plush and comfortable texture.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh is warm in winter and airy in summer, providing a cool sensation.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They are suitable for laying on the floor or even hanging on the wall as art.
Gabbeh rugs can be enjoyed for a long time; why not find your own special Gabbeh?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape or pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Consequently, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping.

The pompoms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
