Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft texture with a high fat content that helps in regulating body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, woven by Iranian nomads using naturally dyed wool, one thread at a time, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.

Daily Care

Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

As these are hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.

The pom-poms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
