Characteristics of Hand-Woven Persian Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are long-pile rugs dyed with natural plant dyes, deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of natural oil, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture that helps regulate body temperature.
These wools are dyed with natural dyes and then meticulously hand-woven one by one by the Iranian nomads, resulting in Gabbeh rugs that are soft and pleasant to the touch.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from the drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Please Note

Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven rugs.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Tassels can be removed upon request

The tassels attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping.
Removing the tassels will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
