Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed sheep's wool with a long pile. The Persian Varied wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant feel with a high oil content that helps regulate body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme daily temperature differences, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool sensation.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find a special Gabbeh rug that will be with you for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive smell from the dyes used to color the wool.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
